Stroke Action Plan for Europe (SAP-E)
The Stroke Action Plan for Europe (SAP-E) is a pan-European project, and sets targets for the implementation of evidence-based preventive actions and stroke services until 2030.
It was outlined by the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) in cooperation with the Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE) to reduce the burden of stroke through improvement of care. SAP-E covers the entire chain of stroke care and was designed by a large group of stroke experts from all regions of Europe.
The “Stroke Riskometer”, developed by Prof Feigin from New Zealand who is well known for his excellence in epidemiological stroke studies, can now be downloaded for free. The app is based on the Framingham stroke prediction algorithms and is being validated against other stroke prediction algorithms.
The Stroke Riskometer has been endorsed by the World Stroke Organization (see article in the International Journal of Stroke).
The only items to know before starting the application is the patient’s “waist and hip” circumferences.
